Home Is Where There Is A Vuitton

Living as an expat means that you are very likely to change the town where you are living every two or three years. At least if your are young and you want to see the world.

This is fun but brings up a problem most people don´t have to deal with, change of the standard of living. One year you might be living in buzzing NYC with all it´s possibilities to spend your hard earned buck and the next you are living in some third world country which is up and coming for some reason where you have to worry not to get kidnapped, mugged or that the water which is coming out of the tab might not be as healthy as you wish.

So you need some kind of indicator how far developed a city is. I don´t only mean the infrastructure but also the people who are living there. You can live in a very save very nice little town in the middle of Bavaria where you don´t have to worry about a thing but boredom will sooner or later get the best of you and you are considering hanging yourself with a Hermes belt from a beam in your costly restored 18th century timbered house.

I am spoiled, easily bored, ignorant, superficial and lusting for entertainment so being stranded somewhere where there is one pub where the farmers are drowning their sorrows in alcohol is like a death sentence to me. I love to go clubbing, hanging out at nice bars with some friends, shopping at nice stores and I like to be surrounded by sophisticated people so I found the perfect indicator if a city is suiting my needs.

Louis Vuitton stores. Vuitton is like the Mc Donalds of luxury, come to think of it most of the places I have been to, a Mc Donalds is not far from the Vuitton store. Anyway, Vuitton caters to a certain clientele, people who want style, people who want to have fun, people who make a statement with their accessories. It´s like "Look, I have this bag, I am part of a certain crowd of people". If they can actually afford to spend that much money on a bag is another story but it´s the mindset of these people I am attracted to. It´s the "I know what I want and I am worth it" mindset.

So if you are a bit like me and you are due for a transfer to a new location, just check the net if there is a Vuitton store.
